There's a Rumor

Every year I put up the hummingbird feeders around St. Patrick's Day.  That's when my late Crossvine would bloom and when I'd see the first hummingbirds.

This year I hung the feeder and waited.  So far I haven't seen the bird but others have so I guess my timing was right.

I'm assuming the phantom hummer is a Black-chinned hummingbird, one of the most common hummingbirds in the West.  In my yard, beside the Crossvine, they seem to like the Autumn sage which blooms early in the year if not year round and the native Coral honeysuckle.
